Running the build takes many skills, one of which is budgeting. With up to 10 staff and various contractors and suppliers for the build, I was quite busy with the finances. As everyone wanted cash, it was off to the bank every few days to draw the funds.
My makeshift office was the back of dad’s pickup truck, and a good old fashioned exercise books to manage the budget. The staff got paid straight from the back of the pickup truck!

Getting my hands dirty on the project
I jumped in whenever I could to get some hand on work done. I helped with some of the woodwork for the forms, and later once the house was built I also tried some plastering and did some of the painting.
Mostly I worked outside, doing planting and watering, in between managing the project and supervising the staff.
